FOREIGN STUDENTS----Summary

Flight Training in SW Florida. Security/Background cks required.

a. Any non USA citizen can learn to fly in the USA if he/she is in the USA legally; with a current
Pass Port & Visa. He/she must start with a 3rd Class FAA Physical & Student License & meet the FAA Ground & Flight Training requirements. Then pass the written & oral/ flight exam.

a. b. A non USA citizen who holds a Private, Commercial, or ATP Pilot Certificate & a Medical
Certificate may be issued a USA Private Pilot License; VFR only based on his/her countries Pilot &
Medical Certificate. But a FAA FORM-----VERIFICATION of AUTHENTICITY of FOREIGN
LICENSE, RATING, MEDICAL CERTIFICATION. This form & copies of required documents
must be faxed to the FAA in Oklahoma City, USA. See the 3 pages that you can print from
this WEB Site. Oklahoma will notify your selected FSDO of the verification & you will have 180
days to complete the training & Check Ride. See my Flight Training web page.

A non USA citizen who holds a Foreign Commercial (with Instrument) or ATP Pilot Certificate, & a
Medical Certificate, has passed the FAA ATP Written Test & meets the Flight Time requirements may
apply to take the FAA Oral & Flight Check the same as in b.

The applicant is then issued a “stand alone” USA AIRLINE TRANSPORT PILOT Certificate.

SUGGESTION: Any Foreign Pilot License holder could earn a “stand alone” USA Private Pilot License in about one weeks time if he/she takes a USA 3rd Class Physical which includes a StudentPilot License. Then pass the Private Pilot Written Exam; complete the ground & flight training required by the FAA & complete the Oral/Flight Check per the FAA PTS. The pilot already has flight time in his/her country which counts towards the USA Private. The written test may be a challenge but not impossible.

Flight Training in aircraft over 12,500# MGTOW requires a TSA Background CK. Flight Training in aircraft under 12,500# MGTOW for other than Initial Private, Instrument or Multiengine is not required. TYPE Ratings (CE-500 or CE-525), Seaplane, Glider, Rotor, Balloon added to an existing rating do not require a TSA Background Ck.
